A switch for the argument

The crew has been going back and forth about whether picking the winner is enough, or whether calling the method and the round should count too. That was never going to get settled by guessing at who it would catch.

So the board has a switch on it now. Full Detail is what you land on: pick every fight, choose a method on each one, and give a round for anything that isn't a decision. Full Card is the old rule and it's one click away, so you can see both and argue from the same numbers.

Nothing is being taken away yet. No ranking is saved under either setting and no record moves, so this is a way to look rather than a rule anybody has agreed to.

The belt and the arrows follow whichever setting you're on, which took some doing. A member who never filled a method in was never top of the Full Detail board, so under that reading the number one spot has a different history than the one the site has been printing.

One thing it makes obvious straight away. A couple of people never fill the method in at all, so they show up every time. Everyone else it catches left one round blank on a card weeks ago, and that list changes week to week as old cards fall out of the window.

Have a look before you argue about it. Tell us if it makes the board worse.

The Record grew a few pages

The Record has a front door now. It says what's on file, what isn't, and why we bothered, which covers most of what people were asking.

Under it, every UFC event has a page and every bout on it has its own. A 1995 fight is a name, a method and a clock. One from last month has rounds, control time and both corners as they walked in. The page shows whatever exists for that fight and tells you when something is missing.

There's a live page during a card, so watching a fight land no longer means refreshing the board and hoping.

And the Overall column used to run about a week behind Tapology, which made it useless the week it mattered. It re-reads every four hours now.

A place to put this

Notices used to run as a banner on the board. Dismiss one and it was gone for good, which was fine right up until somebody asked what changed last month.

So, this page. Anything worth telling the crew lands here and stays. Banners still run on the board when something won't keep, but this is the copy that doesn't disappear.
